Icon white spot treatment
Icon white spot treatment is a minimally invasive, drill-less cosmetic dental procedure that eliminates white spots on teeth using a specialized resin infiltrant.
CURODONT
Curodont (specifically Curodont Repair Fluoride Plus) is a non-invasive, drill-free dental treatment designed to reverse early-stage tooth decay and “white spot” lesions
ICON white spot treatment
- Non-Invasive: Requires no drilling, cutting, enamel shaving, or local anesthesia.
- Fast Procedure: Typically takes about 1 hour and is completed in just one visit.
- Natural Appearance: Restores the tooth back to its natural shade by matching the affected porous enamel with the surrounding healthy structure.
-
Targets Causes: Effective for white spots caused by braces removal, fluorosis, early caries (decortication), and minor enamel defects
Curodont (specifically Curodont Repair Fluoride Plus)
How Curodont Works:
Instead of drilling away part of your tooth, Curodont uses guided enamel regeneration to rebuild the tooth from the inside out. Its mechanism of action follows these steps: [1, 2]
-
Deep Penetration: The dentist applies a specialized liquid gel containing a patented P11-4 self-assembling peptide (Curolox technology). This liquid easily diffuses deep into the microscopic pores of the demineralized enamel.
-
Scaffold Formation: Once inside the tooth, these peptides react to the specific conditions within the lesion and instantly self-assemble into a three-dimensional microscopic matrix or scaffold. This matrix mimics the natural protein framework that your body used to build enamel during childhood.
-
Mineral Attraction: The scaffold acts like a magnet, drawing in calcium, phosphate, and fluoride naturally present in your saliva.
- Regeneration: Over the following weeks and months, these attracted minerals build new hydroxyapatite crystals (the primary component of natural tooth enamel) directly on the scaffold, restoring the tooth’s density and strength from within)
Key Benefits
-
No Drills or Needles: Because it is applied as a liquid directly onto the cleaned tooth surface, it requires no injections, numbing, or structural removal.
-
Quick Application: The entire in-office procedure takes only 5 to 10 minutes to complete.
-
No Staining: Unlike other non-invasive treatments like Silver Diamine Fluoride (SDF), Curodont is tasteless, clear, and will not discolor or stain the tooth.
Note: Curodont only works on early-stage, non-cavitated lesions. Once a physical hole breaks through the tooth surface, a traditional filling is still required.
